Kids Clubhouse at Waveland Golf Course in Chicago, Illinois

The Kids Clubhouse activates a portion of the long vacant clubhouse at Sydney Marovitz Golf Course in the middle of Chicago’s Lincoln Park. What used to be the original Women’s Locker room had been vacant since the 1970’s until First Tee struck a deal with the Chicago Park District to renovate it into its first permanent facility in Chicagoland.

Phase 1 of the project was a 1200sf renovation including a Lobby, Office, Restroom, Lounge with Kitchenette, exterior terrace and Full Swing golf simulator; allowing the facility to function year round. The design is aligned with First Tee’s mission to break down the barriers keeping kids from engaging with golf; providing a fun and approachable aesthetic that still conveys the lessons of honesty and integrity that golf has to offer.

QR codes were generated that allowed potential donors to put themselves in the future space via panoramic renderings. At the groundbreaking event, these codes were pinned to the walls in the existing rooms to provide a sharp contrast of current/future state and encourage donations.
