RUSH - OAK BROOK

Orthopaedic and Surgery Center, Oak Brook Illinois

A joint venture between Rush and Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, ROBOC combines outpatient clinics for both entities with a shared surgery center in a location easily accessed by the western suburbs of Chicago. Filling 100,000sf over three floors with an adjacent parking garage, the project focuses on patient flow and experience from the dropoff sequence through its on-stage / off-stage exam room layout.

The primary facade facing York Ave in Oak Brook is a waterfall of crenelated zinc panels, that dance in the afternoon light and provide visual interest to passers bye. The north facade is fully glazed to allow calm daylighting for the primary building circulation paths and double height lobby. A glass canopy suspends itself from the glazing to form a welcoming entry.

The adjacent garage aligns on all three floors, allowing for easy access for mobility challenged orthopaedic patients on every floor.
